5.0

After being a loyal Tivo user, I decided to give the Tablo DVR a try, and I'm glad I did. Unlike Tivo's costly subscription model, Tablo offers a one-time purchase with no additional fees. Setup was straightforward, and the compact size of the device is a plus. Accessing the DVR from multiple devices throughout the house is convenient, and the inclusion of a free program guide and over 40 streaming channels adds value. Although there are some minor drawbacks, such as navigation requiring more keystrokes and a shorter guide listing compared to Tivo, the Tablo 4th Gen remains an excellent DVR solution, especially for its price.

I was excited to try out the Tablo 4th Gen DVR, hoping to eliminate the need for a long cable connecting my TiVo to the antenna. Setup was relatively easy, but I encountered compatibility issues with my smartphone settings, and support was lacking. While the device offers good features like live TV streaming and a two-week guide, I was disappointed to discover it doesn't work with my LG TVs. The lack of support and the inconvenience of needing additional devices like a Firestick for compatibility led me to return the Tablo.

Bottom Line

While the Tablo 4th Gen may not boast as many advanced features as some competitors, its unbeatable price point and user-focused experience make it a top choice for accessing OTA TV and streaming channels. With promised updates on the horizon, the Tablo is poised to become even more compelling over time.
