so good. Despite some poor reviews of the product, concerning noisy fans, I
have only had a positive experience so far. Fans cool my laptop and are
relatively quiet. Six month Update: the hub does occasionally create a loud
noise from the fans, however a strong tap quiets it down and this has only
happened a couple of times since owning it & most often went moving it
around. Otherwise, very quiet. If you laptop is stationary, or at the hub is
stationary, you should not have a problem.

pretty well, until some of the fan blades snap off. Good standard USB-A ports
allow peripheral connections. I have owned several of these Targus Chill Mats
in the last 19 years that I've been driving semi truck. I clamp then down to a
shelf that I've strapped down to my passenger seat. I use my laptop for my
navigation & my stop by stop miles & time chart. That being said, it
isn't being used under "normal conditions", constant use, constant
movement & bouncing around & temperature changes.
They usually last me about 6 months before a couple of the plastic fins of the fans snap off & start rattling around & rattling. This is the first of the black ones that I've purchased, the previous ones have been the grey one. Within the description, or states that "You can even keep cords and cables out of the way with the built-in Velcro cable organizers." But there is nothing like that in the box or on the unit itself. It seems like it's in the official Targus info. But it doesn't say anything about that on the box. So . . . ?

Review: A bit
pricey but a great laptop stand that does a good job of cooling. Great for
MacBooks and other laptops that do not have have bottom venting. (note: the
fans blow upwards and may cause problems with laptops with bottom side vents).
Cooling ability: When my MacBook Air is running at about 60 degrees centigrade
the portable chill hub can drop the temp about 10 or so degrees centigrade.
Pretty darn good.

purchased this cooling fan and it worked great for the first 4 weeks. The fan
started making a grinding sound, which progressively got worse. If you messed
with it and turned it on and off a few times, you may get it to stop. Sometimes
by adjusting the height, the grinding would stop. Finally it got so irritating
and I couldn't get it to stop, I started looking for a replacement. I only had
one port working on my laptop and really liked the idea of the extra port hubs
and being able to adjust the height, I didn't have many choices that was in a
realistic price range.
Thinking "I" may have caused the chill mat to grind, I ordered 2 more of theses fans, one for myself and 1 for my husband. My fan made a grinding noise the minute I plugged it in, but my husbands didn't seem too have a problem. By going through the same solutions, I could unplug mine and get it to work.....until I moved it. I finally was going to return both of them, and Amazon wouldn't take them back because they only have a 30 day guarantee on computer products, which didn't make me very happy and I did leave feedback saying so. I threw both fans in the trash and ordered 2 of the LotFancy® 12 - 17 Inch Laptop Cooling Pads and have not had a bit of trouble from either of the fans. I would highly recommend the LOTFANCY cooling mat!

Review: I read
some reviews that said the fans get noisy after a while, and I have only owned
this thing for a week, but so far it works great.The fan is real quiet and the
design seems to vent the heat away from my laptop much better than my old one
did (it was also a Tarsus and it had a fan that got loud after the first few
months). Also, the the extra three USB ports (four if you BUY the adapter for
it, since they make you buy it separately) come in real handy. Unlike my USB
hub, it helped me organize the wires to my peripheral devices, making them much
easier to keep organized since they are now situated in the back of the
computer. For now, I would highly recommend this product, but if the fan gets
loud anytime soon I will try to update this review!

8/12/16 After a few more weeks of having to hit it all the time, the hitting
stopped working. I tried to find a way to take it apart and replace the fans
with something cheap and reliable, but there's no way to take it apart without
breaking it. So, I broke the whole thing apart, cut the USB hub section off,
then cut out a section of the base (the part with the Targus logo, why not?)
and hot glued it to the "top" which is now the bottom of my new USB
hub.
It works very well as a USB hub. Original Review: This cooling pad is a real hit! And by that I mean I have to hit it to make the fan stop making the terrible grinding noise that it started making about a month after I bought it. However... after a few good smacks it runs quietly until my laptop goes to sleep or is turned off. But then when it comes back on, the grinding is back and you have to hit it again.
